October Happenings

It was so great seeing our Rockets march down Speidel for International Walk to School Day.  We hope you enjoyed the breakfast treats provided by your PTO!

We had tons of fun having a bite at Hat Creek Burgers while romping around the play escape. Ready for more SPIRIT DAY shenanigans?  We've been saving this one up for the perfect moment!

JOIN US at Spare Time in Pflugerville any time between 12pm-8pm after Early Release on October 26th.  Come road test your costumes and participate in one of two costume contests at 3pm or 6pm. Prizes provided by our hosts at Spare Time!  This super fun way to burn off energy with the kiddos benefits #RocketResources for our school.  Pre-Sale Order Forms are due by October 21st!

Our masters of #TeacherAppreciation are at it again, and have planned a BBQ fest this Friday, October 14th.  In addition, teachers & staff will be forming teams for a fierce pumpkin decorating competition.  Winners will be announced the week of October 24th. Please pitch in with a donation of food, drinks or pumpkins where possible HERE!

See y'all at the October 11th PTO meeting at 6:30pm in the Library! You don't want to miss hearing about our upcoming PTO socials to mix & mingle with fellow Rocket Parents!

Oh, the fun we'll have!  Teachers will be divided into competitive teams for our annual Pumpkin Carving contest. We'll be treating our amazing staff to a BBQ luncheon mid-October, with winners of the contest announced at Spirit Day/Night on 10/24!

October 24th is EARLY RELEASE - And we're filling the day with fun! Firstly, we're providing sweet treats for our Teachers & Staff from Nothing Bundt Cakes...yum!  Secondly, we've partnered with Spare Time for their first ever school Spirit Day & Night!! Home Stretch

April & May are brimming with activity. Please mark your calendars accordingly!

Coffee Talk with the PTO, Thursday 4/21 8-9am @ Panera Bread

Are you thinking about getting involved in the school, but just not too sure about the commitment? What does the PTO do? Will I fit in? What if I want to help, but I work full time or have young kids in the house? Is there something small I can do without getting in over my head? I'm new to the area and don't know many people. I have a new Kinder starting next year. How do I start getting to know other families in the neighborhood?

If any of this sounds familiar, then please join us for a casual chat over coffee & pastries. We would love to get to know you!!

Dell Diamond Spirit Night, Friday 4/29 5-9pm

Did we mention it's also Star Wars night, and RLES receives a portion of ticket sales? Triple Hitter! Hurry....tickets going fast. Click HERE, and enter rowelane (all lower case) as the user name, then rockets.

Third Annual "Cakes of Love", Friday 5/6

Just in time for Mother's Day, we need parent volunteers to help guide the kids with special decorative messages & embellishments for the loved ones they will be delivering their cake(s) to - especially our Kinder and 1st grade friends. The icing is soooo tempting for little fingers!!!

This event is always so much fun! You get to help these little artists put their hearts on a plate for people that make a loving impact in their lives.

Teacher Appreciation Week 5/2-5/6

Our PTO wizards of Teacher Appreciation are plotting splendid treats in recognition of our amazing RLES teachers & staff. Did you know there's also a book of your teacher's favorite things kept in the front office? Consult early and often for ways to show your child's educator how much we care!

PTO Elections, Tuesday 5/3 6:30pm

Looking to make new friends and a huge difference in our school? Every co-chair position is critically important - no task too big or small. We would love to have you join the team! SIGN UP for any and all areas of interest HERE. See you on May 3rd for final assignments!

Other Important Dates:

Fine Arts Night Fun

Thank You, Rockets! Our first annual Fine Arts Night was a roaring success!

We also raised $1593 during Penny Wars this year! We'll send half of your donations to Beads of Courage to help encourage kids dealing with major illnesses. And congratulations to our winning classes: Ms. Stukey's class with 2586 points and Ms. Turner's class with $251 raised!

Penny War, Scholarship & Next Year's PTO Team

April 11-15, we revive our annual Spring fundraising tradition with a twist.  This year, the PTO approved a vote to share funds raised with an incredibly worthy cause - serious childhood illness. Penny War will bring an opportunity of awareness and compassion to our school in a non-scary way that will empower lessons of charity, inclusion and community support.  We have selected Beads of Courage as the beneficiary of these efforts.  Please read up on how this powerful organization rallies around sick kids across the nation.

This Tuesday, April 5th is our second to last PTO meeting of the year.  Here are the hot topis:
  • Penny War - intent, messaging and planning
  • Earth Day celebration
  • End of year purchase requests
  • May PTO Board & Chair elections

About the Elections: Please take a look at available positions, and feel free to ping us on Facebook or Email with any questions.  We could not shower our educators with support and affection, and provide the enriching resources to our kids without the selfless volunteerism we so warmly appreciate from our community.  Click HERE to learn more.

Do you know any graduating Seniors from PISD that attended Rowe Lane?

Submission Deadline is April 29, 2016 @ 3:00pm

A Well Deserved SPRING BREAK!

Firstly, we had the most AMAZING young man representing Student Council stop by our March PTO meeting (shout out to Ms. Payne!). The kids would like to start a Student Store, and presented a compelling speech on ideas behind a requested $300 loan. These are future leaders right here! We could not be more delighted to unanimously approve the funds. Rocket Families, THIS is where your fundraising dollars go! And so, so much more....

The PTO also heard our teachers and staff.  Did you know lunch is only about 25 minutes? Teachers often bring their own lunch to school, and depend on microwaves in their lounge to warm up last night's leftovers. Well, the couple we have are on their last leg, and the line is often long, making time to eat more like a blink of an eye. WE HEARD YOU! Thank you to Sarah Albert for picking up and delivering a couple new microwaves to the teacher's lounge! Y'all, this is a REALLY big deal.

What else have our Rockets been up to this March? What haven't they?!?

Read Across America Day

Kindergarten Rodeo

Spring Book Fair

2nd Grade Musical

HAPPY SPRING BREAK!

Read a good book, have loads of fun, and return to us safely!!
