September 2019 PTO Update

Welcome back, Rockets! We're glad you're here! It was wonderful to see so many new and returning faces at our first PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 3rd. A lot happens in the first meeting - it's thrilling to hear a chorus of voices planning toward a fiscally responsible budget, special events, school resource opportunities and staff support for the year.

Remember, our October meeting is scheduled for Monday, 10/1 at 5pm to accommodate National Night Out the following evening. October's meeting will be a wrap up of our first Glow Dance and heavy emphasis on Pfall Pfreak Out planning. Save the date! Pfreak Out returns November 2nd 2-6pm.

As always, give us a shout to join any of our committees! Alternatively, see your teacher on how you can have the highest impact on your kiddo's classroom. Student success at Rowe Lane is attributed to our strong community influence. #RocketPride

What An Amazing November!

A great, big THANK YOU goes out to our Rocket Community for all of your support in the month of November! You came out in full force to support our Rockets. Our annual Pfall Pfreak Out was a HUGE success thanks to all of you. We raised $12,444 for RLES, and it was our highest grossing Fall Fundraiser to date! Between our Fall Dance and Pfall Pfreak Out, we were able to donate $2300 to the Tompkins family to support their daughter Ellie's fight against childhood leukemia.

We also showed our commitment to warming kids from the bus stop and beyond by participating in the Coats for Kids Coat Drive Competition.  RLES set a goal for our school of donating 500 coats. Our Rocket Families absolutely crushed that goal by donating 1033 coats!  Rowe Lane was honored by being the top Elementary School for donations for the second time in the past three years. Way to bring the banner back to RLES!  Special thanks goes out to Ms. Berela for her leadership as well as Daisy Troop 45615 for all their help counting and collecting the donations.

December brings in one of our most favorite events...the Holiday Shoppe. We are excited to be able to help get our students in the spirit of giving. We will need some adult volunteers to help these few days run smoothly. If you have some time available during the day from Monday 12/17 thru Thursday 12/20, please sign up to help students with their holiday shopping using the following link:

Our Spirit Night planned for December is our Chick-Fil-A Day on Thursday 12/13. Stop by the Chick-Fil-A in Pflugerville and let them know that you are there for Rowe Lane. The more people we have stop by, the higher the percentage we earn back to our school!

Goodbye September, Hello October!

Thank you RLES community for coming out in force and packing the house for our first PTO meeting of the school year! We are excited to meet all of you and value your input on how all of us can help make our school even more amazing. We hope to see you at future meetings!

Spirit Nights
We hosted a few different Spirit Nights this month. Cookie Cutters helped us get our kiddos picture perfect for School Photos. Panda Express helped us solve what's for dinner while giving some money back to our school.

Our 3rd-5th Graders were treated to their Glow Dance this month as well.  They weren't the only ones who benefited from this event. The proceeds from the dance were donated to support The Thompkins family, one of own, who's daughter is being #rocketstrong against childhood leukemia.

3, 2, 1, Blastoff, Part II

3, 2, 1, Blastoff, Part II

Hi Rocket families!  Mission Control, here.  We sure did miss you over the winter break.  If you all thought the first half of the school year was fun, you are in for the time of your lives over the next few months here at RLES.  We have lots of fun activities planned! So buckle your safety harness and get ready to fire those booster rockets into the second half of the school year.

Mama Fu’s Spirit Night
As we set our flight pattern for the second half of the school year, we see that, once again, the whirlwind of commotion and activity this past month was none other than a large gathering of Rocket families enjoying a meal at the local franchise while earning money for the school.  We are thankful for Mama Fu’s for helping us earn $ 267.48!  We are also thankful for our Rocket families who have earned $2,400 for the school through this year’s Spirit Night activities.  Awesome!

As we do each month, let’s take a look at what is on the orbital horizon.

Monday, February 5, 2018 – Raising Cane’s Spirit Night.  Running low on fuel?  Jet on over to Raising Cane’s and land some chicken fingers.  Mention Rowe Lane Elementary School when placing a dine-in or takeout order and 15 percent of your purchase will go to RLES!

Tuesday, February 6, 2018 - The sixth PTO meeting of the year will be held in the school library at 6:30 p.m. Every Rocket parent or guardian (Yes, you!) is encouraged to join the team. In fact, the PTO still has several opportunities to get involved in this year’s activities. As always, free child care will be provide.

Friday, February 9, 2018 - Rockets, turn your port and starboard lights to maximum glow.  It is time for the RLES social event of the year – Glow Party 2018!  Want to celebrate 100 days smarter?  Come dance the night away from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at RLES.  Bring your best black light attire.  This is a free event, though pizza, drinks, and glow items can be purchased here. The $15.00 package includes one large pizza, four drinks, and six glow items.

Friday, February 23, 2018 – Too much fuel?  Jet on over for Spirit Night at Urban Air Trampoline Park from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and let those rockets soar.  Mention Rowe Lane Elementary School when purchasing admission and 20 percent of the cost for admission goes to your very own RLES! Rocket Parents, do you have an itching to soar?  You can join your lil’ Rocket on the trampoline for only $4.99.  Teachers and admin, don’t feel left out! RLES teachers and admin get to enjoy the park free!

Can’t make it?  No worries! You can purchase an online ticket that can be redeemed for up to three months.  To purchase an online ticket here.
So, it looks like we pretty much took care of all the excuses, so we will see you there!

That’s all for now from Mission Control.

Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving, Rocket families!  We need only see our little Rockets soaring through the school year to find so much to be thankful for this coming week.

Here are a few recent activities for which we are thankful:

Book Fair
Rowe Lane Elementary School PTO appreciates the amazing volunteers who helped pilot an impressive book fair, earning a galactic $3,758! This money will be used to purchase new books for our school library. Thank you to our Rocket families and friends who came out to help make this possible.  We appreciate you to the moon and back!

Chipotle Spirit Night
As the cosmic dust settles at Chipotle, we see that the whirlwind of commotion and activity this past Monday was none other than an entire fleet of Rocket families enjoying a meal at the local franchise while earning money for the school.  We are thankful for Chipotle for helping us earn $466.08!

The Great Pie Gathering
As the Five Man Electrical Band once said, “Pies, pies, everywhere a pie.”
Thank you, Rocket families, for showing our teachers and administrators so much love - 95 pies worth to be exact, but who’s counting?  They will head home today with a delicious pie knowing that Rocket families think they are out of this world.

As we do each month, let’s take a look at what is on the orbital horizon.

Double, Double Toil and Trouble

Double, double toil and trouble,
Rockets burn, and spirit nights bubble!

It was a monster mash and a spirit night smash on October 12, 2017, at Monster Mini Golf.  And while we didn’t see any one-eyed, one-horned flyin’ purple people eaters, we had a great turnout of Rocket families vaporizing video games, mixing it up on the miniature golf course, and blasting their way through laser tag at this new neighborhood attraction.

Fillet of fenny snakes,
A spooky night the PTO makes.

Despite it being a dark and stormy night, the second PTO meeting of the year was held on October 3, 2017.  The highlight of the meeting was the selection, by majority vote, of Candace Pruitt for the position of PTO vice president.  Most of you have the pleasure of knowing Candace through her active involvement in PTO and Rowe Lane Elementary School activities.  For those that have not met Candace, she is simply amazing!  Congratulations, Candace! Couldn’t make the meeting? No worries! The PTO meets on the first Tuesday of every month and looks forward to meeting you soon!

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Pfall Pfreak Out and tongue of dog.

Pfall Pfreak Out, our school’s carnival, is this Saturday, October 21, 2017!  This is the most spooktacular event in the solar system, so be sure to invite your friends, family, and neighbors.  There will be pumpkin painting, inflatables, games, a petting zoo, a bake walk, a planetarium, a photo booth, a balloon artist, and a fortune teller, as well as several local vendors for those unique, one-of-a-kind gifts. Funds raised help support PTO initiatives for the entire year. Tickets and wristbands can be purchased at the event. Also, it’s not too late to volunteer.  Signup to volunteer here

Adder's fork and blind-worm's crawl,
Lizard's leg and activities this fall.

Leaving Orbit

Rockets are leaving orbit and roaring through the first month of school.  The first PTO meeting of the school year was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2017. The PTO meets on the first Tuesday of every month and looks forward to meeting you soon!

On Friday, September 8, 2017, Rowe Lane Elementary School celebrated its annual grandparent’s luncheon.  Could anything be more special than eating lunch with a grandparent?  It was out of this world, and smiles filled the school!

With enough spirit to take us to the moon and back, Rowe Lane Elementary School held its first spirit night on Monday, September, 11, 2017, hosted by Urban Air.  Spirit nights are a great way for families to spend quality time together, while earning money for the school.  Great times were had by young Rockets emptying their fuel tanks after a day of learning.
